Western Europe began to coalesce into their modern nation state forms in the 1600 and 1700. By the late 1800s and into the 1900 there was mass immigration to the USA. The USA was a “land of opportunity” and had the vast “Wild West.” Both of these terms refer to the lack of law and regulation. Many of these immigrants wee fleeing oppressive law and policy in these European pricipaites and that at this point had existed for about 200-300 years at that point.
Well the USA is approaching its 250th anniversary. It is now right in there in terms of the time frame for oppressive laws and policy to have began to spring up in the European societies from with the USA has cultural inheritance of law and government. Where do Americans flee to? Where do our undesirables go to find a deregulated environment in which they have more opportunity? Eastern Europe?..... Central America?........South East Asia? The answer seems to be they have nowhere to go and are stuck in the system. This is where we have science fiction stories of a colony on the moon or Mars populated by a rag tag cast of desperate young people hungry for adventure, criminals given an alternative to their sentences and Rich and powerful financiers hoping to seize the untapped markets of space Industry. That is how the pattern has played out before. So we can wait for space travel to be viable to address this issue the old fashioned way. Isn’t that Ironic, awaiting the advance of new technology in order to solve a problem in the same old way as humans have for centuries, find more territory to exploit and stash unwanted people on it.

I still don’t understand how the Blazers gave up Powell.. If you are trying to rebuild quickly for Lillard or if you are trying to start a rebuild from scratch, the one piece you should absolutely hold on to above all others is the versatile well rounded veteran in his prime with championship experience on the reasonably priced team Friendly 5 year deal. I am beside myself. In 3 years when whatever draft and prospect potential get have now is starting to come on Powell will be the same player he is today. Lillard will not. If you were going to make the CJ trade, why do the Powell trade first? The only point of the Powell trade was to get under the cap. The CJ trade did that anyway.
